Marble & Copper
After a long winter break, I had an opportunity to work with some amazing wedding vendors on a Marble and Copper styled shoot at the Trivium Estate in Forest Virginia. As a wedding photographer it was a great opportunity to create something beautiful with awesome and creative people.
When I set out to do this, it wasn’t because I knew what I was doing. No. That was not it. It wasn’t because I wanted to do something I have done before a hundred times… It wasn’t because it was going to be easy. No. It was precisely because it was going to be hard. Right in the beginning of the wedding season, I saw an opportunity to make this happen, and well, I didn’t want it to pass by… Another thing, that I’d just put off until later. The funny thing was, I wasn’t nervous to do the shoot itself. I wasn’t even nervous about the work involved beforehand in putting it all together, but thanks to Isabelle and her talented hard working team this was made possible with the support of all other wedding vendors who sacrificed their time and effort in this shoot.
Initially, I was hesitant to do a styled shoot. I couldn’t just ask people to participate?! I was afraid of being rejected but I quickly realized that the worst anyone could say was a “NO” all I had to do was “Just Ask”. Stunningly simple, right? It sounds super simple, but in reality, putting myself out there, with the knowledge that I might be rejected, is intensely nerve-wracking for me. Fear of rejection is probably one of my reasons for not doing something- although that sounds dumb, as I write it. But, I know it to be true for myself. Doing a styled shoot has been something I’ve been wanting to do from when I began my business. But, that fear of rejection kept me from even contacting other professionals. When the opportunity arose for this latest styled shoot, I guess I just didn’t have the luxury or time to think about what that rejection might feel like.
“The Trivium Estate”
I got to connect with Isabelle (Wedding Planner) from Garden Rose Events & Design, an awesome gal, who I met through Roanoke Wedding Network last year. We hung out for some coffee and I tossed the idea of a styled shoot and asked her if we could collaborate together and make this happen. Without a second though she jumped in to help! That’s it! When you put things into perspective, all of that ridiculous fear washes away!!!! A and a few weeks ago, a group of highly talented wedding professionals and I put on a styled shoot. We debated on various locations and came across The Trivium Estate. Isabelle reached out to Heidi and secured the location for us to make this happen. Styled Shoot, Virginia Wedding Photographer
Ashley Grace Bridal was kind enough to provided us with some beautiful laced bridal gowns for this shoot. I would highly recommend brides to check out their selection. They are located in Forest, Virginia.
The flower arrangement came from Petal Flower Co. Furniture was supplied by Happily Ever After Event Rentals. Cake and Donuts were provided by Cakeview, and Route 8 Donuts. They made the most amazing chocolate peanut butternut cake and donuts were freshly made with Marble and Copper theme frosting. One of the top highlights was custom stationary and hand calligraphy done by the most talented Lohrey Interior Design.
Catering was setup by Pumpernickel Pickle. Unlike other catering vendors out there, this husband and wife team are awesome to work with, and they setup the most amazing table that was mouthwatering and to die for!! They also made a custom Ice cream donut brownie milkshake with marble sprinkles on it!!!
Isabelle and her team from Garden Rose Events & Design did an excellent job in hosting and putting this styled shoot together. Eduardo (Ed) who is also a very close friend from True Vine Films captured every essence of this styled shoot and the love story of these two couples in the most amazing way (can’t wait to see the videos).
